  • Alabama– Weiss Lake called by many the crappie capital of the world. This lake with its many coves and fingers is heaven to crappie and anglers
  • Arizona- Apache Lake with 17 miles of crappie fishing shoreline Apache was an easy choice. Loaded with black crappie it is a favorite of many anglers
  • Arkansas- Bull Shoals Lake massive lake known in the south for its white crappies a simple choice to put on the list
  • California- Shasta Lake beautiful lake with its baby blue color is full of crappie and brings many anglers from all over cali looking to catch a trophy.
  • Colorado- Boyd Lake this 1700 acre lake near loveland is loaded with high numbers of black crappie with many over 10 inches.
  • Connecticut- Rogers Lake- shhhhh this smaller lake under 300 acres is a crappie fishermans dream. I am sure the local anglers are not happy we are drawing attention to it but it needs to be on the list.
  • Delaware- Moores Lake is a very small lake under 30 acres and is loaded with good numbers of black crappie. It is located near Dover in Kent County.
  • Florida- Bear Lake is not familiar with many average fishermen but for crappie fishing it out ranks all of the big boy lakes that are more well known. It is only 107 acres and is located near Manson.
  • Georgia– Allatoona Lake is a monster lake with over 270 miles of crappie fishing shoreline. Trophy black crappie are taken from this lake every year.
  • Idaho- Cocolalla Lake is a beautiful lake near Sandpoint. It is just under 800 acres and is the top destination in Idaho for black crappie.
  • Illinois- Rend Lake is 18,000 acres of crappie heaven. It is one of the best lakes in the midwest for black crappie. Many anglers from all over flock here in the spring for crappie.
  • Indiana- Mississinewa Lake is located near Peru and is over 3,000 acres in size. Both black and white crappie populations are heavy in this lake with average sizes close to 11 inches
  • Iowa- Rathbun Lake is a huge 11,000 acre lake near Centerville. Black crappie sometimes gets over looked due to the walleye population but that is a good thing for us crappie anglers because the crappie are huge.
  • Kansas- Clinton Lake is a nice size lake near 7000 acres and just outside of Lawrence. The white crappie in this lake are the main attraction with many wall hangers every year.

  • Kentucky- Kentucky Lake this lake is what every crappie lakes wants to be when the grow up. It is a huge 160,000 plus acre lake just full of black and white crappie. Many tournaments are held here every year with many 2 lb crappie being the norm.
  • Louisiana- Darbonne Lake located near Farmerville this big 15,000 acre lake is home to giant black crappie. Many bass anglers have reported big crappie being caught on some bass lures.
  • Maine- Pleasant Lake is just over 1000 acres and for Maine which is not well know for crappie is the top destination for keeper crappie.
  • Maryland- Wye Mills Lake is another tiny secret lake that is just full of crappie. This 50 acre lake is in Queen Anne’s county and a must fish crappie lake for all anglers.
  • Massachusetts- Forest Lake for being so small in size this lake holds many keeper black crappie. It is just outside of Palmer and is just 43 acres making locating crappie pretty easy.
  • Michigan- Long Lake is near Portage in Kalamazoo County and is very popular for crappie especially during ice fishing season. Once ice is off the crappie keep biting on this lake until summer.
  • Minnesota- Lake Kabetogama is one of the best crappie ice fishing lake in the north country let alone Minnesota. Black crappie are on every anglers mind from December to June.
  • Mississippi- Lake Perry is not one of the most popular crappie lakes in Mississippi but it is one of the most productive for black crappie. It is located Beaumont and is just over 100 acres in size.
  • Missouri- Hunnewell Lake does not have the boat traffic as the more popular lakes do in Missouri and this is why the crappie fishing is so good. Large white crappie are caught here every year.
  • Montana- Lake Josephine is a tiny 25 acre lake outside of Billings in Yellowstone county. Black crappie are heavily present in this small lake and they are caught easily
  • Nebraska- Summit Lake is a smaller lake outside of Tekamah and is secretly known for its black crappie fishing. The numbers are not huge but the sizes are.
  • Nevada- Lake Mohave is a big 30,000 acre lake full of both black and white crappie. It is located in Clark county and is on many crappie anglers to fish list every year.
  • New Hampshire- Squam Lake is a large beautiful lake near Ashland it is a deep lake and has very nice size white crappie present.
  • New Jersey- Farrington Lake is a smaller lake near News Brunswick. The lake is not real deep and is a hot spot for black crappie
  • New Mexico- Brantley Lake is a popular lake in New Mexico but the black crappie are sometimes over looked but they grow huge here.
  •  New York- Lake Chautauqua is a massive lake over 13,000 acres is located near Mayville. The lake is deep but when you find the crappie it is well worth the search
  • North Carolina- Lake Waccamaw is in Columbus county and is a nice size lake just under 9,000 acres. The lake is well know for trophy black and white crappie.
  • North Dakota- Lake Sakakawea is the largest lake on the list at over 365,000 acres. This lake is of course huge and so are the black crappie. Ice fishing season also sees large crappie caught every year.
  • Ohio- Dillon Lake is an average size lake just outside of Zanesville. When the water cools off in both spring and fall the huge black and white crappie become very active
  • Oklahoma- Fort Gibson is a popular lake in Cherokee county. It is full of huge black crappie that are very active from late February to early May
  • Oregon- Selmac Lake is a beautiful hidden little lake out in the woods of Josephine county. Black crappie run big here and are easily found near fallen timber right off the shore.
  • Pennsylvania- Lake Marburg this 1200 acre lake near Hanover is a busy lake but the black crappie fishing is worth fighting with the boat traffic
  • Rhode Island- Watchaug Pond this body of water is one of the few in the state that has crappie in it so it is worth your trouble if you want a chance to catch a trophy black crappie
  • South Carolina- Lake Juniper is a smaller lake near Cheraw and has trophy black and white crappie swimming in its water. Not well known like many if the bass lakes but this is good for crappie fishing
  • South Dakota- Angostura Reservoir is a 5000 acre body of water near Hot Springs. This lake is deep so finding the black crappie can be a little difficult but when you find them it is worth it
  • Tennessee- Normandy Lake is outside of Tullahoma and is a popular lake for black crappie. It is over 3,000 acres and has close to 200 miles of crappie fishing shoreline.
  • Texas- Aquila Lake is not the most well known lake in Texas but the white crappie fishing in this lake is top notch
  • Utah- Millard Bay Reservoir is a big lake just under 10,000 acres and is a must destination for Utah anglers looking for trophy black crappie
  • Vermont- Lake Champlain is one of the most popular lakes in New England and the black crappie fishing brings anglers from neighboring states for a chance for huge crappie
  • Virginia- South Houston Lake near Abingdon is a beautiful lake in the Virginia hills. The crappie fishing is not well known through out the state so you should get there before the word gets out
  • Washington- Goodwin Lake is a smaller more secretive lake that only the locals know and the locals know how impressive the black crappie are as well
  • West Virginia- Sleepy creek lake is a georgous smaller lake in the hills of Berkeley County. Crappie numbers are not huge here but the sizes are impressive
  • Wisconsin- St. Croix lake is a big lake just under 9,000 acres and is located near Stillwater. The lake is popular for crappie fishing all year especially through the ice
  • Wyoming- Ocean Lake is near Riverton and stretches out near 6,000 acres. The black crappie fishing is excellent in size and numbers of fish present.
